Berlin Germany Insider Sightseeing - TOP Sights - Part 4 of 4

What the Museum Island means to the UNESCO, is the Erotic Museum for adults. But let's see what (else) amazingly we will discover today.
X. Erotik Museum
This "museum" lies on the corner of the seediest-looking block in Berlin. The museum in its exhibits honors the "queen of the Rubber Willy" herself, Beate Uhse. It's a household name here in Germany. Her life is documented from her days at the "Deutsche Luftwaffe" to pictures of her at the helm of a large speedboat. This septuagenarian opened the world's first shop devoted to "marital hygiene," ultimately championing the right to sell contraceptives. Today she still heads the world's largest sex-related merchandising business. Downstairs are video cabins filled with middle-aged men in raincoats and a "sex superstore."
However, you start out on the third floor and work your way down (there is no sexual pun intended). Eventually, it is hard to believe, that it has become the fifth most visited museum in Berlin. The museum shelters 5,000 sexual artifacts from around the world. Asian and Indian miniatures of erotic positions; African fertility masks; large carved phalli from Bali; or some Chinese wedding tiles from the 18th and 19th century that were supposed to provide sexual education to a newly married couple. Life-size dioramas explore topics such as fetishism and S&M. Well-worth visiting.
XI. Gendarmenmarkt
Gendarmenmarkt is considered as Europeans most beautiful square, so a must see for every tourist. Here you will find three historical buildings; the "Konzerthaus" (Concert House), the "Deutscher Dom" (German Cathedral), and the "Franzoesischer Dom" (French Cathedral).
The square was laid out from 1688 to the plans of J.A. Nering. It was originally known as Linden Markt, then Friedrichstädtischer Markt or Neuer Markt. Because the square was used by a curassier regiment "gens d'arms," from 1736-82, complete with sentry boxes and stables, the name Gendarmenmarkt arose. From 1777, the square was developed according to unified plans drawn up by Georg Christian Unger. It was badly damaged in the Second World War. On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the Prussian Academy of the Sciences (Akademie der Wissenschaften), it was renamed "Platz der Akademie". In 1991, its previous name was restored.
==> Konzerthaus
The Konzerthaus is the new building designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel to replace the Nationaltheater built from 1800-02 by Karl Gotthard Langhans, which was burnt to the ground in 1817. The conception of the Konzerthaus integrates the remains of Langhan's rectangular building and adds a higher, wider, gabled solidium in the center, complete with an ionic columned hall projecting at the front. Following its destruction in the Second World War, the building was initially only made safe, and the systematic restoration of the original design only began in 1979. Since its reopening in 1984 it has served not as a theatre, but as a concert hall.
==> Deutscher Dom
The German Cathedral was built from 1701-08. M. Grünberg planned it, and Giovanni Simonetti built it. From 1780-85, during the redesigning of the Gendarmenmarkt, Carl von Gontard added the domed tower onto the cathedral. The cathedral was destroyed in the Second World War as well. However, it had been reconstructed and rebuilt. The reopening was on October 2nd, 1996, five years after the reunification.
==> Franzoesischer Dom
The Französische Friedrichstadtkirche was built from 1701-05 by Cayart. He designed it as a church for Berlin's Huguenot community. From 1780-85, the imposing tower of the French cathedral (Französischer Dom) was added to plans by Unger and Gontard as part of the redesigning of Gendarmenmarkt. In the World War 2, the cathedral was badly damaged. However, from 1977 on it was rebuilt and reconstructed.
And, how was the journey? Did you shoot enough photos? I hope so... :-) And did you recognize, that I gave you 11 instead of 10 tips? Good! :-)
However, enjoy your trips!

Diabetes Trends Until 2025

Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder that develops because the body is not able to produce the hormone insulin and/or is unable to respond effectively to the insulin that is produced.

There are two types of diabetes:

-Type 1, which accounts for 5 to 10% of worldwide diagnosed diabetes cases.

-Type 2, which accounts for 90 to 95% of the totality of diagnosed cases.

The treatment for Type 1 diabetes depends on diabetic medical supplies, above all, diabetes drugs and insulin, while Type 2 diabetes is normally treated by getting involved in the patient's life.

The World Health Organization estimates that there will be over 350 million diabetics by 2030. This huge number clearly shows that the diabetes market will be strongly influenced, particularly the market related to diabetes drugs, which includes injections like the insulin and exenatide types, and oral drugs like Metformin, Sulfonylureas, Thaizolidinediones, Dipeptidyl inhibitors, Meglitinides, Alpha Glucosidase inhibitors, and combination medications.

Presently, cases of diabetes are growing all over the world at a very fast pace. The causes for this incidence are several, among which we can name: increased life expectancy, inactive lifestyles, and rising rate of obesity.

The majority of developed and developing countries worldwide suffer from these three factors, and this is why diabetes is becoming an epidemic.

In Brazil, the diabetes drug market is permanently showing a double-digit growth rate. The insulin market in Russia is expected to grow drastically due to the 20 million Russians that are presumed will become diabetic by 2025.

China is currently the country with more diabetics, and it is expected to have over 71 million people with the illness by 2025; but India will soon top the list, and this is why many pharma companies in India have already launched insulin versions that are easy to use, in hopes of dominating the diabetes market in this country.

Diabetes is very rapidly becoming one of the most important areas in the pharmaceutical industry, and from 2010 until 2025, the market's growth will speed up dramatically.

Following are some indicators that reveal the future of the diabetes market and that are the focus of pharmaceutical consultants and their top clients:

-The diabetes market will have access to highly superior diabetic products.

-Research and development for diabetes therapies will center on technologies that enhance clinical effectiveness, tolerability, and simplicity of use.

-Insulin has the largest market share among the treatments for this disease, with a piece of 45%, and it is expected to rule the market until the year 2025.

-The future influence of inhaled insulin in the market is not clear yet.

-Another important piece of the market is taken by pre-insulin, which has developed a lot of safer and novel diabetes therapies like the DPP-IV inhibitors and GLP-1 analogs. These therapies' comparative performance will probably shape the market 2013-2014, and in the long run, until 2025.

-After the new FDA guidelines were released in December 2008, pharma companies that work on diabetes drugs have had to perform more thorough studies to prevent 'unacceptable' cardiovascular risk. They have to perform meta analyses for cardiovascular safety during Phase II and III trials, and must discard the chance of an increased cardiovascular disease risk by 80% or more. What this means is that safer options of anti diabetes drugs are just around the corner.

Ever since the 13th century, Berlin has been the center of things in Germany, through many empires including the Kingdom of Prussia, the German Empire, the Weimar Republic and the Third Reich.

Berlin is a city rich in culture, media, science and politics. Upon reunification in 1990, Berlin became the capital of unified Germany. In 1991 the West German parliament voted to move the West German capital of Bonn to Berlin, and finally in 1999 the German parliament was fully situated in Berlin.

Be sure to visit Museum Island, which was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you'll find a treasure trove of archaeological collections and art of the 19th century.

One of Berlin's most notable structures is the Reichstag Building, which is the seat of the German Parliament and was constructed between 1884 and 1890. A glass dome was recently added in 1999 where visitors can go to enjoy magnificent views of the city. Other architectural structures worth seeing include the Brandenburg Gate and the rebuilt Schloss Charlottenburg.

Berlin is also renowned as an art Mecca, featuring hundreds of art galleries. The annual art forum is an international contemporary art display. Hackescher Markt is the center for culture and fashion, with a plethora of clothing outlets, bars, clubs and galleries. There is barely a rival for Berlin's nightlife which features a vibrant nightlife and club scene.

The city is also known for its festivals, including the PopKomm, Myfest and of course the prestigious Berlin film Festival.

Forex Candlestick Patterns - 3 Best Forex Patterns Based on Candlestick Indicators

Forex Candlesticks Patterns are one of the most commonly used indicators on forex charts. However when a trader starts doing more research, they come across 100's of patterns and most of them are left confused on which one is the most reliable and which ones should be discarded.

To help you with that, I am suggesting you three forex candlestick patterns that you must be aware of. Before I begin, let me mention that I am suggesting these candlestick formations on the basis of -

1. how frequently do they appear.

2. How much reliable are they and

3. How difficult or easy are they to spot.

With that said, lets go through the top 3 candlestick patterns in Forex Market -

1. Bullish and Bearish engulfing pattern - One of the most common and one of the straightforwards to identify and make trade decisions. When a significant sized bullish candle is engulfed by a long bearish candle during an uptrend, this may signify that uptrend is about to end and the downtrend may be resuming. This is bearish engulfing. This information when combined with other technical indicators, can help in making a decision regarding opening or closing of a trade.

Vice-a-versa is true for bullish engulfing forex pattern.

2. Evening and morning stars - Equally reliable, but this candlestick formation is not that common. However, when spotted, a lot of traders place trade without even waiting for a confirmation.

3. Forex Candlestick Doji - This is not a pattern, but just a single candlestick formation. However, its formation on a forex chart signifies that the existing trend is about to end and a trader should make a trading decision whether to keep the trade open or adjusting of stop losses etc. When it is seen on a daily chart, a lot of traders close their trades.

Forex Trading - Using the RSI and Stochastics

In this article we'll explore a Forex Trading Strategy using the RSI and the Stochastic oscillator combined with two Exponential Moving Averages (EMA). While not terribly complicated these indicators, when combined, put the odds of a profitable forex trade heavily in favor of the trader.

We know the RSI is a momentum indicator that compares the magnitude of recent gains to recent losses in an attempt to determine overbought and oversold conditions of an asset. The RSI crosses over a 50% line indicating a positive or negative bias. A reading above 70 is reaching overbought; while a reading below 30 is approaching oversold. Standard setting for the RSI is 14.

The Stochastic oscillator is a familiar old friend to all technical traders. It is a technical momentum indicator that compares a security's closing price to its price range over a given time period. The oscillator's sensitivity to market movements can be reduced by adjusting the time period or by taking a moving average of the result. It has a reading of 0 to 100. A reading under 20 is considered oversold; while a reading over 80 is thought to be overbought. Standard setting for the Stochastics oscillator is 14,3,3.

Now, let's combine these two indicators with two Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). An EMA differs from a Simple Moving Average in that greater weight is given to the more recent data when calculating the average and hence is considered a more accurate, more timely indicator. When all these are pointing in the same direction, we have a set-up for a trade where the odds are heavily in the trader's favor.

This is a little tricky to explain without the benefit of graphics. If you're familiar with how these indicators work, it should be manageable.
The rules for entering a trade are:

1) the 5 EMA has to cross over the 10 EMA;
2) the RSI has to cross above or below the 50% line;
3) the Stochastics need to cross up or down as well, but not exceed the 20 or 80 levels.
All three need to take place, all at the same time and all pointing in the same direction. It's also a good idea to check the higher timeframes, H4 and D1, to see that you're trading in the direction of the overall trend.

When you have your indicators line up like this...it's a pretty good indication that you're safe entering the trade. You could stagger your take profit levels as some signal providers I've seen recommend. Ten Things to See and Do in the Netherlands

Netherlands is more than just the tulip fields, dikes, windmills, and bikes. Learn more about the country, experience Dutch life as it happens, and walk along its streets and walk with its history, culture and people. So plan the trip, pack your bags and head for these places and activities in the Netherlands.
1.) Amsterdam
If there's one thing that draws people into this city, it's probably the relaxed atmosphere that you never get to experience elsewhere. Amsterdam locals have found a way to balance business life with relaxation and to find time to bask in the sun and to attend business responsibilities. Shop, dine, party, and relax in this care-free, liberal city with its friendly English-speaking people.
2.) Delft
Delft is a town of beauty, with its houses, tree-lined canals, and historical landmarks. Walk around the historical town and be enthralled by the tranquility of its bridges, pavements, houses, and brickworks that stood the tests of time. You can also go to Delftse Hout recreation area and try windsurfing, swimming in its lake and narrow beaches, or check out its community gardens, camping areas and other sports facilities.
3.) Haarlem
Get a taste of the Harleem beer where it is brewed. Take a walk in the bustling Grote Markt on Mondays and Saturdays and enjoy the market, buy anything from clothing materials to fresh herring. Tulips also grow in abundance in Haarlem, so make sure to visit and take a sniff of one of the Haarlem's most prized industry.
4.) The Red Light District
From cutouts faces to literal red lights, the Netherlands' Red Light District has left nothing to imagination. Walk in its alleys, interact with other people and learn something new. Remember, there's no place like the RLD, and it deserves a visit.
5.) The Hague
The Hague, with all its 100 km2 piece of land, serves as the home of the Dutch Government, the International Court of Justice, and the International Criminal Court. This makes The Hague not only important in terms of domestic affairs but also in terms of international judicial system as well. Take a peek into the live and culture of this city by visiting its museums and other tourist destinations.
6.) Bike Tour
Biking has been a way of life for the Dutch people, and people from all walks of life do it for health, economic or recreational reasons. Travel the Netherlands on two wheels and see a place you'll never see on four wheels. Better yet, join the Dutch bicycle tour and experience Netherlands the way you never imagined.
7.) Beer Drinking
Going to a beer-exporting country demands you should taste it on site, and Heineken is not the end of the Dutch beer line. This never seems to be a problem for the Dutch people who ship some 1,300 million liters of beer annually and allows 16 year olds to drink their beer. Whether you drink it as a delicacy or you just want an excuse to crawl to your hotel's door, a Dutch retreat is never a Dutch retreat without those Heinekens.
8.) Keukenhof Gardens
Love Flowers? See how nature and Dutch hands create a paradise with blooming tulips, hyacinths and other assortments of flowers. River cruises that features spring tulip cruises are also being offered to people who would want to take a look of Keukenhof Gardens and the rest of the Netherlands.
9.) Hoge Veluwe National Park
Measuring 5,500 hectares, Hoge Veluwe National Park is the largest national reserve in the Netherlands. It is home not only for drift-sands, wild deer and other animals but also to the Kröller-Müller Museum, the repository of Helene Kröller-Müller's art collection. While going there with four wheels is not advisable, you can rent white bicycles in three designated regions and hope you will never get lost in the see of green and gold.
10.) Van Gogh Museum
Netherlands is home not only for budding tulips but also for famous painters and artists. Located in Amsterdam, Van Gogh Museum is considered one of the best galleries that feature impressionist artworks. Walk in and see "The Potato Eaters" and "The Yellow House in Arles" right before your eyes.

Now that you've started your business, you realize that some friends who promised that they would you use when you were putting together you business plan are not using you as often as you projected.
You've built it and they are not coming. Thankfully, you've thrown your self into this as a full time job and you may remember from school how marketing is a very important and crucial tool to promote a business, especially a new business.

With marketing, you'll need to find your target audience and that means you need to find out if you already have a niche or create one. That means, do you provide any special assitance that makes you stand out from your competitors, is the way you differentiate yourself from PETCO is that you are more price sensitive or is it that you are offering pet group activities, more exercise time and a quieter setting.

"I am a firm believer that you could open a specialized pet business across the street from a PETCO or a PetSmart with a truly specialized focus and be highly successful," says William Lechtner, a San Diego-based industry consultant with deep experience in all sizes of pet businesses and across merchandising categories.
Pet lovers what to know that their pet is going to be safe, taken care of and better of with you then spending time home alone awaiting their care taker to come home. Are they going to be social, get lots of exercise and be fed a proper nutrition?

After you started marketing base on your niche, it is crucial to ask you current clients for feed back. Everyone like to give other advice on how they should be running your business, and believe or not you will find that your best ideas will come from you customers. Whether it comes from them verbally, electronically or through a 2-minute written survey.

From any Kortrijk hotel there is a fantastic range of eating options around the city, to suit any budget.
Fine dining
The St Christophe on Minister Tacklaan, has occasionally obscure opening hours, but provides great food for a price in an old mansion, with a tasteful and elegantly designed interior. The restaurant prides itself on its wine cellar. The cuisine is inventive and offers a variety of delicious dishes. For those looking for something special, the St Christophe represents the finest dining in central Kortrijk.
The Bistro du Chef (Gentsesteenweg) is a traditional bistro with stacks of character. According to the Michelin guide, the food is prepared by a veteran, serving up hearty home cooking and stews that come served in cast iron dishes. There is a patio terrace for drinks, allowing you to take in the night air away from your Kortrijk hotel.
For those looking for an option where the drink is as important as the food, the Langue d'oc on Meensesteenweg, offers a lavish dining room where contemporary dishes are served alongside a fantastic Languedoc wine range. The restaurant features several romantic basement tables, available for couples looking for a table for two. Langue d'oc also has an inviting waiting lounge and an attractive terrace.

On Schouwburgplein, the Bistro Botero is another popular bistro, housed behind an attractive 1900s facade. The Bistro Botero offers a range of simple but delicious dishes and a number of salads. The restaurant is decorated by reproductions of paintings by Botero.
Art is also hung in the Huyze Decock (Louis Verweestraat), but this time it takes the form of poetry. The Huyze Decock is a small, cheerful spot, brightened considerably by a welcoming and jovial owner serving traditional meals.

Sapa - Little Hanoi - The Largest Vietnamese Market In Prague

Sapa - Little Hanoi - The Largest Vietnamese Market In Prague

Do you know that only few Czech know about the existence of a large Vietnamese community in the south of Prague?

This wholesale and retail market supplies products to smaller Vietnamese retailers in Prague and, perhaps, surrounding cities. Most of the items sold here are imported from China; hint hint, they are very cheap. If you are a shameless and skillful bargainer, you can snatch a good deal.

Goodies you can find there
-Clothing and Wears: jeans, shirts, t-shirts, socks, gloves, hats, accessories, etc.
-Vietnamese groceries: vegetables, rice, noodle, herbs, spices, meat, dry products, and many items you might not find at regular Czech markets.
-Handmade willow products: Some are made in Czech, some are exports from neighboring post-communist countries like Slovakia and Poland. Some of these products are sold for half the prices in regular markets.
-Household and personal items.
-Toys and typical Chinese imports.
-Vietnamese music
-Vietnamese food: Delicious noodle soups, rice plates of various kinds, snacks, and much more.
Even if you don't buy anything, do yourselves a huge favor by eating noodle soups in one of those many shops. There are many kinds of noodle soups beside the more popular Pho. I already tried three restaurants: Hai Phong, Thang Long, and Hue Xua. The first two serve Northern cuisine while the latter, Hue Xua, prepares food in Central style. A bowl of noodle costs from 70 Kc to 80 Kc.
Eat eat eat. I'm sure you won't find these deliciously yummy noodles else where in Prague.

How to get there: Sapa Market Center - Sidliste Pisnice, Prague 4; Hours: daily
There are three ways to get to Sapa: from Kacerov (metro C, red line) and Smichovske nadrazi (metro B, yellow line)

From Kacerov (bus goes even on the weekend)
-Hop on bus no. 113, 333 and more buses during the week days.

From Smichovske nadrazi
-Walk about 5 minutes to the bus station, from point 1 to point 4 on the map. [Map]
-Hop on bus no. 198 or any bus going to Sidlisce Pisnice.
Get out at Sidlisce Pisnice. Sapa will be on the left. You won't miss the big sign. Cross the street and enter the market.. Use this link to work out your own schedule and route.
If you are still not sure, grab any Asian you met at the station or on the bus and ask for direction. He or she is likely to be a Vietnamese going to the market.

Exploring the Diverse Theatres of Berlin on School Trips

Located in the north eastern part of Germany, Berlin is an exciting place to go on school trips. It is Germany's largest city, the capital of the country, and is a major hot spot for the arts, culture, history and education. As you arrive in this vibrant city, you will feel its creative atmosphere that gives rise to an array of artistic endeavours and theatrical productions. With a rich background in theatre and film that dates all the way back to, arguably, its height with the production of Bertolt Brecht's Three Penny Opera in 1928, Berlin has some real gems to visit.

While in Berlin taking classes in the many varieties of theatre, be sure to take some time to visit some of the most important theatres in the city such as the Friedrichstadt Palast and the more alternative Hebbel-Theatre, before catching a show by the Berliner Ensemble.

Friedrichstadt Palast
School trips to the Friedrichstadt Palast in Berlin's exciting "East End" district which runs from the Unter den Linden along Friedrichstrae to Hackescher Markt will be an unforgettable experience. Opened in 1867, the Friedrichstadt Palast is one of the city's biggest tourist attractions and is the only Revue theatre in Germany - and the largest one in Europe. The main hall - designed by Werner Hoffmann - contains 1,893 seats, a main, side, fore and backstage, an ice rink, water basin and podiums.
The performance area is a staggering 2,854 square metres, making it the largest stage in the world. With fantastic outfits, amazing scenery, music and acrobatics, this is one of the most powerful and interesting shows in Germany, and who can forget the famous 32-girl chorus line of dancers? If you have a chance, take the time to see the unique Children and Youth Ensemble, which put on children's themed plays on the big stage.

Hebbel Theatre
Once you have had the chance to experience the largest Revue in Europe, then the next destination on the itinerary of inclusive school trips should be the Hebbel Theatre at Stresemannstrae 29. The Hebbel was founded by fusing three theatres in the city; it has a history of performing alternative projects and has traditionally been known for its strong political and avante guarde productions. The theatre not only has shows, but takes part in conferences, no-budget festival marathons and urban space projects.

Berliner Ensemble
Once you have explored the huge world of the Revue and seen some of the underbelly of alternative and energetic works at the Hebbel, then your group should take time to book in for a show by the Berliner Ensemble. Any theatre focused school trips to Berlin would simply not be complete without this inclusion. The Ensemble is a theatre company that was established by famous playwright Bertolt Brecht and his wife in 1949 in East Berlin. Its home is in the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm, which is a neo-Baroque theatre at the riverside in the Mitte district, that was opened in 1892.
After an unsteady, but generally successful, history that saw the ensemble switching from corporate to state, to private control, the Berliner Ensemble was revamped in 2000 and has since stabilised.

Berlin - Not Bound By Simple Definitions

A city of contrasts and contradictions, Berlin symbolizes many different things to many different people. While many see Berlin as the seat of political power in Europe, many others enjoy it as a swank, hedonistic playground with never-ending parties.

If Berlin has been the catalyst for World Wars, it has also been deemed as epicenter of unification. Nevertheless, it is the least German of all cities in Germany. The city of Berlin is warm, down-to-earth, and chic and has panache unique to its character. Also seen as an epitome of Teutonic efficiency, rigid tolerance, the power of lobby, a home to the bohemian race of artists as well as a vibrant gay and lesbian community. Berlin is a mix of simple and ultra dapperness.

Traveling to Berlin is fun in many ways. An exciting place that is ever evolving, the city is a study in contrasts. Where the old rubs shoulders with the new, you will find an undercurrent in the day-to-day activities of this Teutonic race. Ever since the fall of the Berlin Wall, Berlin has been on a second lease of life. Oriented towards positioning itself as a metropolis of international standard, it is surely carving its identity as the new 'Capital of Europe'.

Due to its sheer size, Berlin may be confusing to most first time visitors. Therefore, it would be easier for you to remember that Berlin has 23 different districts, and each has its own distinguishing character. The most central district in Berlin is Mitte. It has an ancient past and is showcase of some of the oldest buildings in the city such as Marienkirche and Nikolaikirche in Nikolaiviertel. Besides this, Mitte is also home to many of the grandest buildings standing proud and strong along the magnificent boulevard Unter den Linden. The postmodern style showroom of Germany's own Volkswagen is also located along the boulevard.

Further, towards the north of the River Spree, the Mitte attains a different character. Here you will be able to enjoy plenty of bars, restaurants, clubs, and cafes. This is the epicenter of Berlin's fast beating and throbbing heart - the vibrant nightlife. This is also the place in Berlin to check out some alternative art galleries and be part of the artistic experimentation movement. Home to resident subculture - the Hackescher Markt and Oranienburger Straße are full of small art kiosks, and squatters and bigger art centers such as the Tacheles cultural centre or the Acud theatre.

After touring the main district head to the northeast of Mitte, you can visit the district Prenzlauer Berg that used to be the centre of alternative culture and political resistance during the old glory days. Taken over, pre-dominantly, by rich West Germans now, Prenzlauer Berg has some of the best restaurants, bars and clubs in Berlin and it's a great hangout place!

Other districts include Friedrichshain, south of Prenzlauer Berg, or the legendary Kreuzberg situated next to the Wall in former West Berlin, which is the abode of hippies, punks and left-wing intellectuals. If you are bored of the urban culture and want to relax and just be lazy, then a walk in the park is just perfect. Full of green spaces, Berlin's parks are like an oasis. Berlin also has many canals, rivers such as the beautiful Landwehrkanal.

Berlin is a great place to visit and as the Berliners say - Willkommen in Berlin!

Travel Europe Tours of Brussels, Belgium

Brussels is one European capital that's easy to miss on your grand tour of Europe. The whole little country of Belgium is easy to miss, but it's one that you really shouldn't. It has lots to offer. This grand old city is not only the capital of Belgium, it's the Capital of the European Union.

Something you'll have to get used to in all of Belgium, is that there are two languages... everywhere. Dutch and French, so you'll often see signs in both languages. It's Brussels in English... "Brussel" in Dutch and "Bruxelles" in French. You'll get along fine in either language or English. Our friends in Belgium slip from one language to another with ease that puts us to shame.

Right in the center of the city is where you want to be. "La Grand Place" or "Grote Markt" is the main square right in the heart of the old town. This huge cobble stone square is surrounded by the city tower and 300 year old buildings... most of which were guild halls.

There are really only a few old streets left around the square, but they're fun to wander. Shop for chocolates. Have Belgian Waffles with caramelized sugar on the square. (Luikse wafel or gaufre de Liege). Definitely have a beer. The Belgians are known for their beers... there are over a hundred breweries in this little country producing hundreds of different brands and many types of beer!

When you stop to eat, you'll have to have mussels (moules). You can have French fries (fritjes or frites) with them, or have fritjes as a snack. If you want to eat those fries as the Belgians do, have them with mayonnaise.
The first time we visited friends in Belgium, they made it a point to serve us Brussels sprouts... but you don't have to eat those if you don't want to! If you order any of these as a snack, you can take them and sit on steps or benches around the square just as the locals do.

Just a short walk from the Grand Place-Grote Markt is the Manneken Pis. EVERYONE wants to see this fountain with its funny little statue. And it is little.... smaller that you think it will be... especially since it's reputation precedes it all over the world. You know what we're talking about... the funny bronze statue of a little boy... well, Manneken Pis says it all doesn't it? Maybe he had one too many beers?

There is a museum full of little outfits that have been created for the little boy... if you're lucky (or unlucky depending on your viewpoint), you might even see him dressed in one, but they are usually kept in the museum.
Signs will direct you to the corner where he stands.

For a little culture, visit the Royal Museums of Fine Arts off one end of the main square.

There are two museums linked together here, the Ancient Art Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. If you like early Flemish masters, the Ancient Art Museum is for you.
You probably don't need to spend more than two or three days in Brussels to see it well before you move on to other areas of Belgium or Europe, but really, it's a great city that you shouldn't miss.

Lovers Bike Ride in Brussels

Lovers Bike Ride in Brussels
Longing for love? If you're in Brussels, try looking at the end of a tire.

Brussels offers one of the most interesting ways to find romance- via bike. Mount that sexy Schwinn and make your way over to La Maison des Cyclistes.

Join the group as a couple or single for a three hour ride that will take each cyclist through some of the most romantic stops in town. As the tour passes through the narrow streets of this Belgian city you'll be sure to hear sweet French anecdotes and stories fill the air. Taking a pit stop at a local cafe en route, riders are provided the opportunity for a more intimate encounter.

Interested? Here's the address- Provelo, La Maison des Cyclistes, 15 Rue de Londres, 1050. The tour is eight Euros; you can bring your own bike, but if you want to rent one, it's an extra seven.

A Glance inside Brussels
It's the capital of Belgium and the European Union, but it's also a melting pot, home to languages and cultures from all over the world. The city is filled with an old charm, jumbled with range of 300 year old buildings, marketplaces, and parks. And the landmarks are as unending as they are beautiful.

Grand Place-Grote Market
If you were looking for a place to find some "gaufre deLiege-Luikse wafel" (Belgian Waffle with caramel), this is the place to find it. The best spots to buy these sweets are the little shops off the northeast corner of Grand Place-Grote Markt. Grab your waffle and find a seat- beautiful old buildings are often the canvass for music and light shows during the evening.

Manneken Pis
Just a short stroll from the Grand Place-Grote Markt, you'll find a small bronze child taking a, well, a 'pis'. The statue is considered to represent the "irreverent spirit" of Brussels. There are many legends of how this little whiz came about- one about how the sculpture said he would make a statue of the first person he saw when he got up one morning, another that a little boy was frozen as a statue by a witch as a punishment for peeing on her garden.

One of the most interesting things about the statue is its ever-changing outfits; Belgians have created hundreds if not thousands of wears for the little guy, which all conveniently are designed with the fly zipped down.

Red Light District

Yes, Brussels has its own red light district. You'll find it in Rue d'Aerschot, behind the North Train Station. Ironically enough prostitution in Belgium is not legal.
So there you have it, the perfect Valentine's day outing. Get out there and explore, just don't forget to bring a map!

General Things to Know About Brugges

General Things to Know About Brugges

General Things to Know About Brugges
By John Joe

When we visited Brugges we stayed in a little hotel off the Markt Square. Which is one of the main squares in the town centre. We arrived by aeroplane into Brussels, then we caught the airport train into the centre of Brussels. After alighting from the airport train we stayed on the same platform and then boarded the next train heading to Ostend but stopped at Brugges on the way.

After arriving into Brugges you need to go down a flight of stairs to reach the train station terminus. Once outside you can catch a taxi or bus to your destination. There are plenty available for all visitors. Another time we arrived at Belgium Zeebrugge Ferry Port we caught a bus after alighting from the ferry which also dropped us at the train station.

This point is close to the T'Zand Square a beautiful part of Brugges with a wonderful fountain. Each Saturday morning many people flock to the square for the fantastic market which sells nearly everything you would like to purchase.

Once you have picked up your bargain you can head over to one of the many cafes which surround the square.

The medieval town of Brugges has many canals and narrow wonderful streets which you can walk away the time. The town centre is fairly compact and is best to see all the attractions on foot. A word to the wise please wear flat shoes unlike my wife who wore high heels and regretted it as the town is covered in cobbled streets.

The Markt Square is picture postcard perfect with all the cafes and restaurants surrounding the square. Here you can order pancakes and strawberries and a coffee. You have never tasted pancakes this before now or chips with mayo another local treat. Scrumptious. Wash down with a local beer and vello a perfect afternoon treat. Did you know the Belgians have over three hundred beers which are often served in their own style of glass.

If lace if your thing then Brugges is the place to look around. You will still be able to see the traditional lace making with the Brugges grandmothers sitting outside the shops making all the table cloths, napkins and handkerchiefs.

Once you have sampled the lace making why not try a canal boat trip. There are plenty of places to board and travel the canals too. After your boat trip you may still have some energy for sight seeing.

Did you know that the famous cartoon character Tin Tin was Belgium. You can browse through the shop which can be found just off the Markt Square in Brugges. Once you have finished visiting the shop, you may wish to head over to the main Markt Square where you can find the Church of the Holy Blood.

This church has said to house a relic of Jesus from the crusades. Another church which has a beautiful Michaelangelo statue of Madonna and Child is the Church of Our Lady. This is across the road from St John's Hospital which is now a fabulous art museum.

Brugges is a glorious medieval town which is similar to Venice in appearance. John Joe has written this article on behalf of Car Hire Brugges at http://www.bluewheels.com. They can offer car rental at Brugges, Brussels and other Belgium towns.

Freelance Writers - Market Yourself Effectively

Freelance Writers - Market Yourself Effectively Freelance Writers - Market Yourself Effectively Freelance Writers - Market Yourself Effectively
By Gerard Mohamed
Not all of us are born marketers and many professionals find it difficult to let the wider world out there know about the extent of their goods and services. We have been taught in elementary school not to brag or appear as being boastful, but to make it in the world of freelance writing you have to prove to people why you are better than your competitors.
When it comes to self-promotion and self-marketing, you have to consider yourself as a brand, in a fashion similar to MacDonald's, Nike, or Kentucky Fried Chicken. These brands are instantly recognizable and there is a certain quality and consistent value linked to them. Just imagine yourself as being known as the Coke of the freelance writing world.
On order for you to operate in a similar league, you have to think of yourself as being a winner. The one common attribute of winners, is that they usually focus first on their accomplishments and by not giving up easily. As a writer, you need to have something specific and noticeable to say about yourself, which clearly differentiates you from the rest. This is what will make prospective employers take a closer look at you and your quality of work.
Another route to follow is to become well-known within a certain writing niche, and thus establish your reputation as an expert. In this respect, you can focus on article writing, eBook writing or even copy-editing. To be a specialist in a certain niche is frequently much better than trying to be a jack of all trades. This will also present you with an opportunity to market yourself much better, especially if you have managed to complete writing work for reputable people or well-known organisations.
It is essential that you also have a means of getting the word out about yourself and your freelance writing business. This can involve something as simple as having some high quality business cards printed, right up to getting your own website. In this modern day of Internet marketing, it is almost impossible for freelance writers not to have a website from where they can showcase their portfolio.
There is a great deal of importance linked to building relationships with your clients irrespective of whether you have only a few, or hundreds on your books. All of the big branding names like Nike have gone to extremes to build relationships with their millions of clients merely through their high-quality products.
Your products have the capacity to build your relationships and therefore ensure that you always provide high-quality writing and people will not only come back automatically, but also refer other potential clients.

Have You Found Your Forex Edge in Declining Times

Have You Found Your Forex Edge in Declining Times
As a world recession is coming closer. People are less inclined to spend in turn buying less. The real estate market is dropping and the stock market has had the worst months in a decade. Most agree that a recession cannot be avoided. You need to be prepared for whats ahead. To find a way to get through this coming crisis you will need a forex edge. The solution is currency trading. Being aware of various currencies that are traded across the globe are the Yen, the Euro, the USD and the Canadian dollar just to name a few.

Forex trading can be confusing and you may wonder if currency trading can really work for you? With so many online money making courses to choose from, it can be very difficult to separate the good ideas from the bad ideas unless you test every one of them. Trading the currency market has become more popular over the last few years. This is because of the rise of the internet. Many people are looking for ways to create an income as they cannot trust their jobs to support them. Anyone can join in forex trading and enjoy it's profits.

Forex trading is a recession proof business. Unlike your work or real estate, you can make a profit when the markt goes down. In the currency market this is called short selling. In a recession, the value of your assets start to drop, you can hugely profit from that situation. In this senario use the movements in the market as your forex edge. This is called "outside the box thinking".

Another benefit of trading forex is the hours of trade. Your regular working hours are most likely fixed, the forex market is open 24 hours a day. You can trade with it any time of day you like. This can be traded through out the world as long as you have access to telephone or internet. Trade while your on you vacation or from your home or even from your bed if thats your desire.

Finding your forex edge could mean automating your trading. There are automated softwares or robots that trade while your away or sleeping or while your at your job. This can be a great way that you can have a second income while you keep doing your job. Understand that currency trading should be treated a business and not as a hobby. A person is more likely to get out what you put in to a business.

Trading currency as a home business is becoming one of many ways to make a stable income stream. Before you jump into the forex market, it's a good idea to educate yourself on how it all works. The most successful traders use a system to their trading, whether it's technical or fundamental. By technical, that means following a set of indicators or rules to enter and exit a trade and by fundamental, that means paying attention to worldly news. Each of these ways could be a part of your forex edge.

Food for all

Whatever the level of luxury at your Kortrijk hotel, there are plenty of dining options for those looking for a more affordable meal, offering top quality food to suit a more modest budget. The Brasserie Csar (Grote Markt) is a popular venue offering good food in a modern and ambient brasserie.

Vegetarian

If you are a vegetarian staying in a Kortrijk hotel, there are several options specifically aimed at you, enabling you to enjoy fine dining without the meat.
